Green and Renewable Energy
Research Cluster Overview
Research Cluster: Sustainable World
Topic: Green and Renewable Energy
Theme: Advanced functional materials for sustainable growth
Overview: Advanced functional materials drive sustainable growth by enhancing energy efficiency, resource conservation, and environmental protection. With applications in renewable energy, energy storage, green manufacturing, and waste reduction, these materials—such as catalysts, nanomaterials, and bio-based materials—enable innovations that reduce emissions and resource use. The goal is to create efficient, eco-friendly technologies supporting long-term sustainability and a low-carbon future.
Expected Outcomes
- Utilize electrochemical devices to enhance energy efficiency in practical applications.
- Assess the effectiveness of Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) in purifying water and removing contaminants.
- Demonstrate the capability of a lab-on-chip device to efficiently capture circulating tumor cells (CTCs).
- Develop low-cost analytical devices for rapid detection of hazardous ions in drinking water.
- Implement advanced hydrogen production techniques that support renewable energy initiatives.
Current Projects
- Electrochemical sensing, energy conversion, and storage
- Development of highly porous materials (MOFs) for effective water decontamination
- Immunological capturing of circulating tumour cells (CTCs) by novel lab-on-chip microfluidic device
- Design and fabrication of low-cost analytical devices for rapid detection of hazardous ions in potable water
- Exploration of porous/high surface area materials using a hybrid tubular furnace-chemical vapour deposition (CVD) system
- Hydrogen Production for a sustainable future
