Environment – Bioconversion of Waste to Wealth

Environment – Bioconversion of Waste to Wealth

Research Cluster Overview

Research Cluster: Sustainable World
Topic: Bioconversion of Waste to Wealth
Theme: Bio/Physico chemical process for converting waste to wealth for generating renewable energy

Overview: The cluster prioritizes climate change mitigation and equitable resource access through biological and physicochemical transformation of waste into valuable products like biofuels, bioplastics, and biomaterials. These approaches support sustainable energy, circular economy goals, and reduced reliance on harmful chemicals. This initiative will help develop robust, novel, and eco-friendly technologies.

Expected Outcomes

  • Create a novel, robust nano cellulosic supercapacitor
  • Analyze the production feasibility and efficiency of biofuels from Karnataka’s food/agriculture waste
  • Develop efficient techniques for separating biofuels from waste sources

Current Projects

  • Extraction of commercial-grade nanocellulose from agricultural and food waste in Karnataka for biomaterial design
  • Development of nanocellulosic supercapacitors
